An AWS Conference Agent Can Plan Your Schedule, Not Register You

Read the result for each requested session

Finding a session is not the same as securing a seat. The current AWS Events API documentation supports catalog reads and attendee schedule changes, but says it does not register users or guarantee reservations. Its MCP path also requires sign-in even when a REST catalog read may be public.

Citation-ready: AWS documents REST and MCP access to event catalogs and attendee schedules, but the API neither registers attendees nor guarantees every requested reservation.

Evidence boundary: Current documentation audit, not an October 8 launch claim. No sign-in, registration or reservation was attempted; no attendee data was accessed.

What happened and why it matters

A schedule planner must distinguish discovery, registration, identity and reservation readback. Tool access cannot turn an unconfirmed seat into a completed booking.

REST and MCP share features, not every access condition

AWS says the application runs on the attendee's own machine. REST can read public catalogs for events without registration; MCP requires sign-in for every call. Listing an event does not establish access to its sessions.

Plan the workflow around the actual attendee and event. A successful catalog query is still only a read. Avoid building a hosted account-sharing workaround around a guide that specifies local attendee sign-in.

The final schedule needs a receipt

The API does not register the user, return a registration link or guarantee reservations. It also does not search the catalog for you; filtering happens in the calling application.

After a permitted reservation request, inspect each session result and retrieve the saved schedule before calling the task complete. If one slot fails, keep that failure visible rather than describing the whole batch as booked. The work-agent analysis uses the same principle for durable task completion.

Current documentation audit, not an October 8 launch claim. No sign-in, registration or reservation was attempted; no attendee data was accessed.

FAQ

Can the MCP tool register me for an AWS event?

No. AWS says registration happens through the event's own site first.
